On the iron arms of the menorah rest glass candle holders for olive oil, and the menorah itself rests on strong, iron legs.
This menorah is named for Matityahu Hacohen, who led the rebellion of the Hashmonaim against Antiochus the 4th – because it resembles the menorahs designed during that period.
The menorah is crafted from 5 iron arms that have been bent and imbedded in limestone. The glass candles are forged in special twists so that the candle holder embraces the iron arm.
